St Cuthbert’s needs you!

We are looking for someone to serve as Church Treasurer.

Are you someone who has a good knowledge of figures and who would like to support our beautiful mediaeval church?

We are looking for a volunteer who will support the aims and values of St Cuthber’s Halsall and is sympathetic to the Christian faith, but does not have to be part of the governance of the church (unless they wish to be).

The role is voluntary and is estimated to involve between 4 and 8 hours of work a week .  There will be training and support from the outgoing treasurer, including on the on-line accounting system and church policies and procedures.  There will also be opportunity to meet and gain support from treasurers from other churches in the Ormskirk Deanery.

Appointment will be via interview and references will be needed.

Initial enquiries to Colin Throp (Treasurer) or Susan Salt (Rector)

A HUGE THANK YOU.

With your help ST. CUTHBERT’S HALSALL has already managed to raise £26k of the £40k we need to create disabled access to the church and graveyard, and start the process of applying for grants

to repair the West Window, roof and much more…

We are hosting a number of community events over the coming month, advertised elsewhere in the magazine, to help us get to our target.

In addition to supporting those events please consider giving

either a one-off donation or a regular gift to St Cuthbert’s via

as all the money goes directly to us and we can claim gift aid on it if you are a UK taxpayer. This QR code will take you directly to our page.

FRIENDS OF ST CUTHBERT’S

You can also support St Cuthbert’s by becoming “a friend”.

All the funds raised through this scheme are directed to the maintenance and repair of the church building and grounds.

There is a minimum donation of £20 per year to join, but you can then choose how much and how regularly you donate.

For further information please contact info@halsallstcuthbert.co.uk

Thank you for supporting us.

Results from the Community Survey conducted in May and June 2025

St Cuthbert’s are really grateful for everyone who took the time to complete the community survey as part of our weekend of events in May.

70 Adult responses (online + paper) were received

88 Children’s responses to a separate children’s survey (via school)

Those who completed the survey and asked to have a copy of the results should have received a summary by email.  If you would like a copy please contact Susan via her email and she will forward one to you.

It was encouraging that the majority of people who completed the survey valued the church as a place of worship in the village and wanted it to be open more often for quiet reflection.  People also appreciated the graveyard as place to come and spend time.

There is much for the parochial church council (PCC) to ponder.

Watch this space.

.

They did it!!! Our amazing Rector Susan abseiled off Liverpool Cathedral and our amazing Churchwarden abseiled from Anfield!!

Both raising funds for the disabled access project for St Cuthbert’s.

We are all so very grateful to them both.

The story of St Cuthbert through the eyes of a young novice monk banished to Lindisfarne by his own parents.

This highly recommended publication can be bought on line using the QR code and by using the code HALSALL at checkout £3 will be donated to our Church fund.

We are thankful……………..

All at St Cuthbert’s are enormously grateful to Mr Richard Holland for his work in organising the upgrade of our path through the memorial garden in memory of his dear wife Dorothy. This work has been completed at no cost to St Cuthbert’s thanks to the generosity of the civil engineering company Westshield and Richard. It has greatly improved that area of the Churchyard which leads into the new burial ground, Woodland View. Huge thanks to all involved.

Butterfly and Bees Group (the B’s) & Halsall Proud and Tidy

If you have the opportunity to spend some time in our gardens please take a moment to have a look at some of the changes that have been made by the B’s group of volunteers to encourage wildlife into the area and to provide safe havens for some of our more vulnerable little creatures. We have hedgehog houses and natural habitat piles with little drinking spots, a planting scheme is in progress of more pollinating plants and lots of bulbs. This last summer saw the first showing of our new wildflower area which was seeded by the group earlier in the year and which was amazing. The group is led by Clare Edwards and she and her husband Connor have done an amazing job both in the church grounds and in other areas around the village. Thank you so much Clare, Connor and all the volunteers who have helped!

The village Proud and Tidy group have also been working hard around the village and in and around the Church grounds. This group is led by Eleanor Wroe and Enid Banks and many of you will see Brian Lloyd and other volunteers carrying out a whole host of jobs keeping our village neat and tidy. Thank you to every one of them!

Please visit the Church Services page for the current months regular services and find below advance notice of our December itinerary.
